Central Highlands of Tasmania

The St Patricks Plains Wind Farm is located in the Central Highlands of Tasmania, about 10 km south-east of Miena and 25 km north of Bothwell, in the Central Highlands Local Government Area. The main north-south transmission corridor between Launceston and Hobart is adjacent.

The project area is located approximately 850 metres above sea level on the elevated plains to the south-east of Miena in central Tasmania which is known to have strong wind speeds.

The project will be constructed primarily on freehold land. Land to be used for the project will be secured under lease arrangements with local landholders.

The St Patricks Plains Wind Farm Information Centre is located at 16a Patrick St, on the corner of Patrick and William Streets in Bothwell. It is open by appointment (please contact the project team on 1800 571 245 ).

Excellent Wind Resource

The area has been identified for its strong wind resource. We are using a range of innovative instrumentation and data analysis techniques to continue to model the wind characteristics at site.
